Yeti Zhang has spent over a decade in fitness and outdoor apparel production, from T-shirts, yoga clothing, shorts and running wear through to seam-sealed waterproof jackets and heated-jacket development.

The work splits in two. Knit lines move fast, and colour and shrinkage decide whether the tenth carton matches the first. Woven outerwear is slower: pattern and seam placement, membrane selection and taping, tested until the laminate holds in the field.

She came into production through sales — seven years following lab dips, strike-offs, trims and schedules through to shipment before moving into production management. That is where she learned that a delayed approval, not a delayed factory, is what moves a delivery date.

Most days are approvals and interruptions: a lab dip half a shade off in daylight, a zip in the wrong finish. Catching them before bulk is cheaper than after.

She writes for the people who sign the purchase order and live with what turns up — retail buyers, importers, wholesalers and founders placing a first production run.

“A competitive quote means nothing if the workmanship and the delivery do not hold up on the second order.”

Core Competencies

Areas of Expertise

01

Fitness & Outdoor Product Development

Running wear, yoga clothing, T-shirts, shorts and shorts-and-top sets built for North American and European retail programmes, from first sample through size-set approval.

02

Seam-Sealed & Waterproof Construction

Waterproof functional outerwear — seam sealing, taping and membrane assembly — where a failed seal shows up in the field, not in the sample room.

03

Heated Jacket Development

Integrating heating elements, wiring and power systems into outerwear without compromising fit, washability or the garment’s finish.

04

Knit & Woven Line Planning

Balancing knit and woven programmes so a mixed order — jersey basics plus woven outerwear — lands on one delivery schedule.

05

OEM & Private Label Execution

Running buyer-owned patterns, labels and packaging through an OEM programme, and keeping the workmanship consistent from the first bulk order to the repeat.

06

Lab Dip, Strike-Off & Trim Approval

Chasing colour and trim approvals before bulk: lab dips, strike-offs, zips, tapes and trims checked against the buyer’s standard while there is still time to change them.
